Data & security
The minimum access required.
Coach Alan is being designed around separate public and product systems, personal access, source-aware data and private-by-default experiences.
Public website separation
The public marketing and early-access website is separated from protected Coach Alan product systems. The signed-in product area uses the same identity and data source as the mobile app, while private athlete, team, training, competition and coaching records remain within protected product infrastructure.
Read-only web projection
The web dashboard receives a deliberately reduced product snapshot: coaching conclusions, programme structure, permitted account contexts and completion summaries. Raw check-in answers, private injury notes and hidden health detail are not included in that web snapshot.
Personal access and retained history
The launch experience is personal coaching. Team-management workflows are retired. Existing accounts, their intended personal access and legitimate historical records are retained; a previous organisation role does not grant paid coaching. Team-originated evidence in personal history keeps its source, ownership and original access restrictions.
Admin testing
Private product demonstrations may use fictional records. Administrative test capabilities are restricted to the designated Coach Alan administrator and are not presented to ordinary members.
Provenance
Records preserve whether information was Club Verified, Wearable Measured, Athlete Reported or Coach Alan Estimated. Estimates are not silently promoted into verified facts. A performance check guided through Coach Alan’s staged protocol remains athlete-reported unless a trusted connected source genuinely measured it.
Comparable performance evidence
Personal evidence plans and results are held within the protected athlete product record, not the public website. A versioned protocol fingerprint preserves the measure, unit, equipment, load meaning, duration, distance and declared conditions. Changed protocols remain visible as separate evidence rather than being silently combined. Corrections update the intended dated result without creating duplicate evidence, and a comparison cannot directly change the programme.
Personal readiness and recovery
The daily coaching state is a training decision, not a diagnosis or medical clearance. Where the athlete permits connected evidence, supported sleep, resting-heart-rate and heart-rate-variability records are compared with that athlete’s own recent comparable history—not a population target. Source, observation time, reconciliation state and confidence remain attached. Missing, stale, duplicated or unresolved records do not silently become poor recovery, and favourable readings cannot add training beyond the saved programme.
Wearables and connected services
Connected services are authorised explicitly, limited to the records needed for the chosen feature and disconnectable. Reading connected workout history, interpreting supported recovery evidence, writing a completed Coach Alan workout and controlling an active session from a paired watch are separate capabilities. Imported sessions retain their source and stable session identity for duplicate detection; an activity summary never silently becomes invented exercises, sets, repetitions or loads. Watch actions carry stable workout, exercise and set identities into the existing guided-workout record, and a retried pending action cannot silently create a duplicate set. Export is optional, applies only to eligible Coach Alan completions and never sends an imported workout back to its source. Availability still depends on the platform, granted permissions, subscription and product stage.
Children and safeguarding
Features for minors require age-appropriate onboarding, guardian and organisation controls, restricted communications, minimum-necessary visibility and a documented safeguarding process before launch.
